College of Business and Technology Distinguished Senior Award
A $500 award is given to the student judged by the College’s department chairs as the distinguished senior in the College of Business and Technology. The recipient is chosen from the distinguished seniors recognized by the faculty in various College departments/programs. The recipient is chosen for his or her superior academic achievement coupled with excellent leadership, citizenship, character, and service. The award is presented at the University Scholars Day Ceremony during the spring semester.
Dean’s Distinguished Academic Achievement Award
The Dean’s Distinguished Academic Achievement Award is a $500 award given periodically by the Dean’s Office of the College of Business and Technology to an outstanding graduating student, who, in addition to having academically excelled in more than one major within the College, possesses good character, leadership, citizenship, and social responsibility. The award is presented at the University Scholars Day Ceremony during the spring semester.

EKUBusiness General
Beta Gamma Sigma Junior Scholarship
The Beta Gamma Sigma Junior Scholarship is awarded to the Beta Gamma Sigma junior member with the highest GPA. Juniors representing the top 7 percent of their class are invited into Beta Gamma Sigma membership. This $500 scholarship is awarded to one student per year at the spring induction ceremony.
Cecil A. Washburn Scholarship
The Cecil A. Washburn scholarship is awarded to either an incoming freshman or a returning student in EKUBusiness. Applicants must be enrolled full-time. The recipient must maintain a 2.8 GPA or higher. The student should possess the characteristics valued by Cecil A. Washburn: good character, leadership, citizenship, social responsibility, and a desire to complete a college education. The scholarship shall be awarded to the candidate exhibiting the greatest financial need. This scholarship awards $500 to one student. Students are nominated by EKUBusiness faculty, and the recipient is announced during the spring semester.
Connie Lawson Endowed Business Scholarship
The Connie Lawson Endowed Business Scholarship is awarded to a junior EKUBusiness student meeting the following requirements: at least a 2.5 GPA, and an initial geographic preference of eastern KY, including the Ashland area. The scholarship is renewable for up to two years provided the recipient maintains at least a 2.5 GPA. Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award
For nearly 60 years, this distinguished program has given colleges and universities from around the country an exclusive opportunity to recognize the performance of their most outstanding business students. Students are nominated by their schools, and are recognized among other things for academic achievement, leadership potential and/or entrepreneurial spirit. Award recipients are announced in the spring, and they receive a $500 award, a personalized paperweight, a one-year subscription to the Wall Street Journal, and their name engraved on a plaque exhibited in the Dean’s office.

The Gayle Mason Scholarship is awarded to a female, senior accounting major who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in academics and leadership.

The I. Max Reed Scholarship is awarded to a junior accounting major based on academic excellence and leadership abilities.

McIlvaine Memorial Endowed Scholarship – Entering freshman accounting majors
The McIlvaine Memorial Endowed Scholarship is awarded to an EKUBusiness accounting major. The recipient is awarded full in-state tuition.

Nina B. Duvall Endowed Scholarship
The Nina B. Duvall Endowed Scholarship is awarded to EKUBusiness students working towards a degree in accounting. Eligible recipients must place within the top 10% of their high school graduating class, have a demonstrated financial need, and must be a resident of the state of KY and reside in a county within the area situated east of Interstate Route 75. The area also includes those counties bisected by I-75. The scholarship is renewable and will be available for up to ten semesters of full-time enrollment. The recipient must apply each year meeting the following criteria: a GPA of at least 3.2. Should the recipient’s GPA fall below 3.2 in any semester, they may not reapply until a GPA average of 3.2 is again achieved. The endowment will award two $1000 scholarships.
R.R. Richards Scholarship
The R.R. Richards Scholarship is awarded to a senior accounting major who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. The recipient is awarded full in-state tuition.

Professional
There are many professional scholarships available by discipline. Some past awards are listed below.
KYCPA Educational Foundation Scholarships
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a Kentucky college or university and be at least a sophomore at the time of application
- Have an overall grade point average of at least 2.75 and an accounting grade point average of 3.0
- Have completed Principles of Accounting
- The scholarships recognize scholastic achievement and leadership qualities in students who plan to become CPAs.
Scholarship amounts range from $1,000 to $2,500. Students interested in applying should visit the KYCPA website at http://www.cpa2be.org/mx/hm.asp?id=scholarships All applications must be postmarked by January 30.
Becker Grant
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a Kentucky college or university and be at least a senior at the time of application OR be employed at a KY employer
- Must be a member of the KyCPA
- Have an overall grade point average of at least 2.75 and an accounting grade point average of 3.0
- Be available for a telephone interview, if necessary

Minority Scholarship from AICPA
To be eligible for a minority undergraduate scholarship, applicants must:
- be a declared accounting major (this must be indicated on your transcript) with an overall and accounting grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.3;
- have satisfactorily completed at least 30 semester hours, or 45 quarter hours, or equivalent college work, including at least six semester hours (or equivalent) in accounting; and
- be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (12 semester hours or equivalent) at an accredited institution.
- For purposes of this program, the AICPA defines minority students as those of Black, Native American, Pacific Island races, or of Hispanic ethnic origin. All applicants must be U.S. citizens.
- The scholarships are awarded once each year (in August) for the following academic year.
- All applicants are required to submit a letter of recommendation from either a faculty member or a CPA.

Distinguished Senior

Financial Executives International
The Financial Executives International is awarded to a student possessing superior academic achievement and leadership in finance.
National City Business Scholarship
The National City Business Scholarship is awarded to two EKU students who are in the spring semester of their sophomore or junior years. Applicants must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA, be majoring in business, finance, economics, or other business-related fields, and have an interest in pursuing financial services as a future career. Financial need will be a consideration. The recipient should possess exemplary leadership and scholastic ability, strong community service, activities, and honors as well as a strong work ethic. The $2,500 scholarship is renewable for four semesters after selection for a potential total of $10,000 over the course of two years. Students wishing to apply for this scholarship should complete the official National City Scholars application, which can be obtained from the Dean’s office. 14 Scholarships
Various insurance organizations have been particularly helpful in making scholarships available for students in the program. Currently there are more than 14 scholarships awarded each semester to insurance majors. The scholarships range in amount from $200 to full in-state tuition per academic year. Scholarships are awarded each semester to insurance majors/minors. For Spring semester consideration, applications are due December 30. For Fall semester consideration, applications are due July 31.

Donald E. Bodley Endowed Scholarship
The Donald E. Bodley Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a student who has achieved senior standing. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5, as well as passed course RST 310 with an “A”. The award is good for one year (two semesters). Recipients are selected by the University Scholarship Committee.

- Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Provide evidence of leadership activities
- Be a corporate communication and technology, general business, management, or marketing major
